Gallery: 12 days in China
Twelve days, one camera. Captions from the road.
Note: this was a photo gallery in WordPress; the images weren’t part of the export and will be re-added. The captions are preserved below.
- The memorial of the September 18 event, where the Japanese blew up the railway and blamed the Chinese for attacking the property of Japan’s South Manchuria Railway — used to start the invasion that led into the larger war after 1931.
- The entry to the tomb of the first Qing Emperor. Just kidding — to reach the tomb I had to pass through a huge Saturday-morning crowd. This is the entry to the park.
- The center of the Forbidden City of Shenyang.
- One of the old doors. And another of the old doors.
- “Wow, this door held for at least 300 years.” And now it’s 300 years and a few minutes. Impressive!
- Some young entrepreneurs — nice stuff. Bought some art, had a cookie and a coffee.
- Just some new buildings. Yep. Wow.
